This ritual is designed for mothers to be and is a spiritual alternative to a baby-shower.
This ceremony can be held in person or virtually and involves being surrounded by your close group of female family and friends, or soul-sisters. 
The rite involves tying a red ball of yarn around the mother’s wrist before passing the red thread along to each member of the group, who tie around their own wrists, before cutting the thread at the end.
When the mother’s time comes to have her baby each member of the group cuts the red thread in a symbolic gesture of ‘letting go’ and inviting the new baby to enter into the world, and is a gesture of being held by your sisters during the birth, who are with you in spirit.
